For a long time Sally has been drawn to supporting people with the difficulties and challenges that life can bring. Whether it’s helping someone to get back on their feet after a life setback or working together on lifelong patterns. Through her work she has come to strongly believe that the origins of problematic patterns stem from unmet core emotional needs in childhood.
Sally values psychological approaches which respond to the individual needs of the client and uses an approach to therapy which integrates Schema Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Mindfulness Meditation.
Sally has a special interest in Schema Therapy and is passionate about working with clients presenting with personality disorders and complex needs. She appreciate the opportunity to develop strong therapeutic relationships, whereby we can make sense of life patterns based on an in-depth case conceptualisation. Sally has a strong interest in increasing accessibility to Schema Therapy using innovative methods including technology and group work.
Sally recently co-founded an eHealth platform for Schema Therapy. Secure Nest is a website for therapists and their clients to collaborate in a shared online workspace or for individuals to learn more about Schema Therapy through a self-education program.
Sally has experience working with a wide range of clients presenting with complex difficulties, including anxiety, depression, personality disorders, grief and loss, abuse and trauma, eating disorders and self image, self-esteem and relationship issues. She also has experience working with families of children with autism spectrum disorders. Sally works with adults, adolescents, school-age children and families.
Sally holds a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology and is registered to practice under the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is also registered as a Medicare provider.
