✨Practitioner Spotlight: Meet Dr Rosalind Hill! ✨

Meet the wonderful Dr. Rosalind Hill (Dr Roz!)… She moved to Adelaide in 2022 to join the Southside Clinic team. Read on to learn about Roz and how she became an Osteopath

A big shift… and another!

After being born and raised in Cape Town, Roz made a big shift and moved across the Indian Ocean to Adelaide in 2006, with her parents and brothers.

After taking a gap year to work and figure out what she wanted to do, Roz ended up undertaking and completing a Media/Arts degree. However, while working in marketing, she decided she needed a change and became a yoga teacher. About two years in to working as a yoga teacher Roz found the part she enjoyed the most was helping people reach their physical potential and she also felt that she needed more of a challenge. At the time, she was teaching yoga at Southside Clinic and mentioned to Andrea (the owner at the time) that she was thinking of studying osteopathy. Lucky for all of us, Andrea was super encouraging and answered all her questions. Fast forward to 18 months later and Roz had taken the leap - she was in Lismore, studying Osteopathy at Southern Cross University!

Doing What She Loves Most

Now Roz has well and truly found herself in the place she is meant to be; practising as an Osteopath at Southside Clinic. She absolutely loves the people - the wide range of people she treats along with those she gets to work and learn with! She also loves the puzzle that every patient brings to her and witnessing the successes her patients get, both big and small.

When treating patients, she likes to get a clear picture of what's going on with each individual. For a new patient she'll spend the time talking with them about what might be contributing to their presentation - activities, work, previous medical history etc. For those patients returning, they will have a quick chat about how they've progressed from the last treatment and what now needs focus on the day.

Dr Roz’s next big focus is towards paediatrics and pre and postnatal treatment. She’s been undertaking extensive additional studies to really enhance her knowledge in these areas.

Life Beyond The Clinic

We asked Roz some of the “hard questions” so you can all get to know her a little better:

Favourite things to do on the weekend?

“Beach, walks, visiting markets, hang with the doggies (and my partner Josh ;) )”

Where is your favourite travel destination?

“This is the hardest question... In Australia, I love the Northern Rivers and Coffs Coast. When we lived in Lismore we'd often go camping at a little spot called Pebbly Beach - stunning!

Overseas, I'm biased but Cape Town is super special for so may reasons - friends and family, beautiful beaches and mountains, lots of adventures and exploring. “

Do you have a favourite meal?

“I Love a good Laksa!”

Favourite tv show?

“First thing that comes to mind is Umbrella Academy”

ANDREA’S 5 TIPS FOR STAYING HEADACHE FREE!

Vivienne-Jachmann-Physiotherapist-Southside-Clinic-Unley-Adelaide.jpg

Drink lots of water. You should have about 8 glasses a day to keep you hydrated.

Take a magnesium supplement. Magnesium is food for the muscles and reduces tension that can cause headaches.

Take a fish oil or turmeric supplement. Lots of headaches are associated with systemic or whole body inflammation and a fish oil or turmeric supplement is a great way to reduce inflammation in the body.

Do a light weight, high repetition, upper body, weights program. A class like yoga, barre or Pilates is great for this. You need to build strength in your muscles to prevent poor posture.

Aim to reduce stress levels. My favourite two things to prevent stress are participating in a Yin Yoga class, or listening to the Headspace App.
